I Still Can’t Believe It

Remember that time I got all artsy-fartsy on y’all?

It paid off! A few weeks ago I received an email from the nice people at Progressive Farmer Magazine (click the link and I’ll prove it to ya!) to let me know I was a Top 10 finalist in their photo contest.

This is the photograph that won. I’m still stunned.

Seriously. I really don’t know what I’m doing.

You might have noticed that I put up a link to my Etsy store today. Between placing in this contest and having (a few) requests to buy my photographs I decided to cave in and set up shop.

Not to get all Oscar-speechy, but I would like to thank everyone for encouraging me and boosting my confidence. Thanks to you guys, I won a very generous gift card to Tractor Supply. Psst… don’t tell my girls but they sell go-carts. Shhhhhhhhh.

What a fabulous picture you captured! Just beautiful, Congratulations! And won’t your girls be happy… but I’m not telling. But find something for yourself, too. We moms always put ourselves last…. do something for YOU -

I LOVE that photo! You have such a terrific talent! I checked out your Etsy shop and you’ve got some wonderful shots in there. What kind of camera do you have?

Josh and I were talking about cameras last night. I don’t have the best camera although it light and easy to use – I drool over the Nikon D80 and often cruise Ebay in hopes of seeing one at an affordable price. They never are.

Josh promised me that when we finalize the papers for our children (whenever that will be and whatever kids they will be — we still don’t know any of that), I’ll get a really great camera to take pictures of the kids and our projects. I’m thrilled. I’d been really worried that we would be at a 4-H show or a T-Ball game and my camera wouldn’t be able to capture any of the action. I don’t want to miss a single moment, you know? I’ve waited so long for these children and I can’t wait to cover my walls with pictures of them.

I’m glad you like the website. My dear friends, Carl and Kemble, would be happy to teach you how they did their magic and create the site that you’ve been dreaming of.

Way to go! That’s great.

I entered three pictures in the county fair. I won 1st and two 2nds. I was so proud of myself. When I brought them to work to show my boss she said, “you really think you have a chance with these?” I was devastated. I almost didn’t enter them. But now I can rub them in her face!
