  • Welcome!

I'm a farm wife, a mama and a photographer living in Virginia.

My camera is typically filled with images of sunrises, dusty fields, even dustier children and whatever we happen to be planting or harvesting at the time.

    Thanks for visiting the farm!

Shopping in a Small Town

(From time to time I’ll be writing about items I love or household hints or what I consider farmgirl style. Heck, I should probably be asking y’all what to do with those shutters I dug out of the trash heap that one time… I do love to go junking. So with apologies to the uninterested I have added a new category: Padding the Nest.

-Jennifer)

We live approximately forty-five minutes from any sort of mall, big-box store or in other words – something that is not a gas station convenience store.

But there are a few exceptions and one in particular keeps me sane: Miss Robin’s shop.

Robin is a hairdresser but by the grace of God she saw fit to include a gift shop in her hair salon. I can pop in anytime for a quick jewelry fix or to get a yummy bar of soap or these fantastic MaggiB purses that I ADORE. I am addicted to them now. I have to have one for every season.

Some of you might be saying, “But wait. You have a new baby. You won’t be carrying a pretty purse for the next eleventy billion years.” The solution to this is buy the biggest MaggiB bag Robin stocks and use that as my diaper bag. Problem solved! They are gorgeous, affordable (Hush up, Cotton Husband- they are too!) and functional and by golly, I love them.

And how could I have left without taking this apron with me? It was CALLING MY NAME, people.

I admit, I absolutely cannot justify this purchase. It’s a MaggiB apron, so I’m not gonna cook in it. Maybe I could wear it out with a cute tshirt and jeans. Hmmm…

I love those kinda little country gift shops! I could browse for hours. When traveling I like to take the backroads, for that reason. Never know what ya might find that ya never knew you needed!

Love this bag. Never heard of it. I too have a fondness for new bags each season and shoes and jewlery! I get excited changing out my stuff. I have heard (and seen alot) about Miss Robin’s shop from my family and I am sure I will be seeing some of these MaggiB’s at the holidays when I visit. Enjoy – you deserve a special treat every now and then. (Not quite so expensive as guns and shells and such!)

Those are the best places to shop. The hell with big malls or chain stores. I love little shops.

I love that bag. I don’t think anyone around here sells them.

I was the same way about diaper bags. I love the bag and apron. So cute! We have a little shop like that aroung the corner. I still need to stop in and look around.

I have and award for you. Come get it when you have a minute.

I would like to thank you for all the kind words about my shop a friend called me and told me about your blog. So I checked it out, and wanted to tell you that the apron could also be used as sexy farm lingerie for cotton husband! So maybe he would aprove of the purchase.

Ok, Robin… I am screaming with laughter over here. Bet you can hear me from your house!

Keith says you are a born salesman!

Not sure what article to put this comment under, but I just knew that all of your readers would love to know that I’m eating my darling bride’s homemade apple dumplings topped with Edy’s pumpkin ice cream.

We don’t live in a farmhouse, but this sure seems like it would be a farmhouse treat!

In fact, it was so good, that I had seconds!

That bag is adorable!!! I am in desperate need of a handbag as mine is way past its prime. I will check out some of the cutesy stores for one!! Great idea.

And yes what else would one use an apron for other than Robin’s suggestion after all? LOL

Nice purse! I did the same thing when my youngest was born – I got tired of carrying around a huge diaper bag and figured out that I could fit the essentials in a large, pretty purse.

There is no better time for a new purse or expensive apron than after childbirth. It is ENTIRELY justifiable. That advice is why I will never win Money Manager of the Year :)
