What a neat idea. I dont think SD has such a day for kids to hunt. But then I would be the last to know as my hubs is not a hunter.

I made the girls take the gun safety course right along with the boys. It is a highlight in their life. Of course having a better aim than most boys in the class helped to sweeten it for them. LOL

Happy turkey hunting!!!! :)

I hope the girls bag a turkey. The Cotton Husband will be so proud.
And I hope you have or can get one of the tenderizer secrets, too.
Let us know how it turns out!!

Lisha,

They wait for the turkeys to come out - they entice them out with some sort of call... then they pop them. :)

The wild turkey around here can be a little tough to eat - some people have marinades and tenderizers that have been family secrets for years and years.

So what do the kids actually do? Chase them down, entice them into a trap, take their pop guns out and pop them?? It's all new to me. We have scrub turkeys that run wild in the outer suburban areas here in coastal areas of Australia, but I don't think we are allowed to touch them, they are protected. I think they are a little scrawny to eat too!

Wow! It's hard to believe how diverse this great big country is - here on the west coast we'd have to send our kids 'hunting' for turkey in the grocery store because that's where all our turkeys live. Well, there and various sports bars ...

I love the turkey pictures!

Here in Arkansas, we have a weekend before deer season starts just for the kids. :) I don't know about turkey season...but I know my oldest is beyond ready...he has been practicing his turkey calling!
