Our pond weren’t built for no havin’ fun. It was built purely for farm use – for irrigation.
Nope – no fun to be had here. No siree. This is a working pond.
Try telling that to my little waterbugs.
Our pond is perfect. It’s not at our house… so no curious little feet can wander over to it. Keith built it across the road, over at the Warthan Homeplace, which – really – was brilliant and not just for safety reasons.
There’s no phone. There’s no email inbox beckoning me. There’s no stove, no washing machine, the perpetually messy house is outta sight.
All we have to do is take a long walk (or a short drive) and we’re instantly On Vacation. Even if just for a little while.
Best of all – there’s no luggage to unpack!
Where is your favorite getaway?

That sounds so nice!
My favorite getaway is the dirt track races. I love going and cheering TNT on. But I also love to sit down at the dock and fish at the lake. So peaceful when the sun is starting to go down and all the people are going back to their cabins.
WOW. How nice! Living in Florida has its advantages … each weekend I can drive to the beach and completely escape. It definitely tricks my mind into thinking I’m on vacation each weekend which is a super nice break from the stress of work.
That’s a tough one! Though, if we’re packing up the bags and hitting the road, its back to the Smokie Mountains we go
Kelly,
My parents used to take us to Cherokee all the time. We loved it!
My favorite getaway is when I go visit the grandkids, and the only thing I have to be is their Nonna, spoiling them!
My daughter lives on the Little Manatee river in Florida and I like to take a book and sit on her dock and just read and watch nature. Somtime manatee surface and even a dophin jumps and plays at times.
Ya’ll are some kind of country!! Cute pics of the girls.
It’s our pond! Much like yours, it’s really for irrigation, but we’ve dressed it up with a dock for diving and lots of pretty flowers all around. The dogs have more fun than anyone! Who do they think they are???!!!
I love these pictures!! So sweet and summery
I always love your photos. Your girls are beautiful.
My favorite spot to get away is Lake Tahoe. It is on the California/Nevada border.
I think you BLOG is my getaway!!! LOL… we don’t have much time to go anywhere… But I deff enjoy grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting down to read what is happening at the farm!!
