Thanks to Hurricane Ida (now downgraded, thank goodness) I can’t get outside to take new photos of our cotton crop. Yet – I really want to answer Kath’s questions from yesterday.
So here are a couple shots from some recent photo sessions - as well as a few photos of my little peanuts.

My husband was kind enough (meaning that he was bribed with apple cake, eggs and bacon this morning) to answer all of those questions. I probably could have found a source that didn’t feel the need to be a droll smarty-britches, but hey – he’s convenient.
I warned you.

How big are those modules of harvested cotton?
“Ugh. I don’t know. As big as a cotton trailer.”
That’s not helpful.
“Ok. 40 foot.”
What an incredibly accurate, well thought-out answer. Thank you Keith.
Not.
Do they carry one of those on a semi trailer?
“It’s similar to a rollback… it’s a module truck.”
Hmmm… talk about accurate naming. And also? A little elaboration would be nice. But hey – I’m just reporting here.
How heavy are the modules?
“Heavy.”
Do y’all see what I have to live with? Help!
How many tshirts can one of those make?
“3,106. Children sized.”
Kath, I am so sorry. Seriously. I tried, girl.
In all seriousness, those suckers are BIG. I try to convince Keith to build them really close together so that I can skip from one to the next while pretending to be Leisl from the Sound of Music. It hasn’t happened yet but when it does, you’ll be the first to know.

Your family is GORGEOUS!
They always have to be such smart alecs don’t they?
I’m totally fascinated with your cotton harvest too, as I’ve never known anyone that grows cotton. So cool!!
Love the pic of your two littlest ones!!! I need to stop looking at it though, it makes me want another one of my own….uh oh!!
Thank you for the interview with the cotton farmer on my behalf!! So 3,106 child size shirts, huh? Cool!
I am fascinated with the cotton this year!!! So lovely. And interesting. And well, just plain lovely! As are all the pictures!!!
Thank you!
That must be a real sight to see when you look out your windows… the fall colors on the trees, and the cotton bolls getting plump and ready to harvest! Great pictures – your kids are so dang cute!
A bale of cotton weighs about 480 to 500 lbs. If you work at it, you can get 11 bales in a module.
I’m not sure about the number of tee shirts you can get out of one, but I bet it’s a bunch.
Your pictures are fab-u-lous!
Awesome photos…and this was a cute blog. And funny too. I have not commented in forever so that says something.
You are very welcome, Kath!
Susan Marie – we love our home. It is breathtaking this time of year.
And Judi, yes I suppose it does say something.
