  • Welcome!

I'm a farm wife, a mama and a photographer living in Virginia.

My camera is typically filled with images of sunrises, dusty fields, even dustier children and whatever we happen to be planting or harvesting at the time.

    Thanks for visiting the farm!

They Don’t Play

Our little beagle, Shaggie (half Shelby, half Maggie – geddit?) was only trying to play with the chickens.

Really she was.

She didn’t mean one bit of harm.

But one particular chicken apparently forgot to take her hormones that morning…

Because she did this.

And then she did this.

And she proceeded to beat the heck outta poor Shaggie until the dog managed to get free of her wings.

To be very honest, I was more than a little scared to be sitting right there with my camera.

But I was even more afraid to try to move.

Awww, poor Shaggie! Doesn’t this chic realize that she needs to be a little nicer when it’s just 2 days until Thanksgiving???? She might be the “center of attention” with Chicken and Dumplings!!!!

So funny!
I feel for Shaggie, I’ve been on the receiving end of a flogging. Not fun!
How lucky you were to be in the right place at the right time with your camera.
By the way, what kind of camera do you have? I think you have said before, but I don’t remember.

Becky, I have a Canon 50D. I was using the 70-300mm for these shots. I didn’t want to be any closer than that!

That chicken was not having a good day, was she? I feel like the chicken sometimes. Poor Shaggie, he was just looking to have a little fun and got pwned. :D

Hallo! Randomly came across your site, so I’m dropping a note! :D Tell ya what, I’ve never quite seen such an aggressive hen before…someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed! Shaggie doesn’t stand a chance! XD
