Yesterday, I left my warm comfortable farmhouse (and my warm, comfy sweatpants) to bring home some bacon.
But before I left, I had to cook some bacon. I’d have had some mighty upset little girls (and boys) if I hadn’t.
You can’t fry bacon AND have plans to leave the house looking presentable without an apron. You just cain’t do it.

And since I let my second blogging anniversary slip by (why didn’t y’all REMIND me???), I am having a giveaway for any apron of your choice from B Doodles. The pic below will take you to their adorable-beyond-words Etsy shop.
In order to enter, share with me anything you have on your mind. Pretty simple, huh? And in some cases, I think I might be asking for a little bit of trouble!
The random winner will be chosen on Wednesday, March 3rd.

Spring is just around the corner. As I look out my office window at the wintery clouds, I am able to tolerate a few more weeks of cold because of the crocus and daffodils I saw in bloom on the way. I have to get my garden ready for planting potatoes and onions this weekend!
I like your blog!
Wow, I just found your site from PW and I <3 it!!! Will definately be following from now on….
On a side note (since this is what i'm thinking right now) when will it get warm again!?!?
Stress is on my mind!! I love being a SAHM and need to find a job where I can work from home… Anyone need French-English translations??!!
Never worn an apron, but always suspected it’d up my performance…
Cuh-uute! Adorable little shop!
Right now on my mind…is our move next week. Who moves in the wintertime? It’s unbelievably ridiculous. But here we are. Thank goodness we’re only moving about 10 blocks away. Too bad I live in the frozen Canadian prairies.
Just found your blog from Ree’s blog!
What’s on my mind? Hmmm…..How ’bout “If I don’t get off this computer and start teaching my children, they’re going to grow up sad and uneducated, making homeschoolers everywhere look bad.”
How’z that.
Love your blog!
Happy Bloggerversary!( ha I had starbucks this morning can you tell?)
If I just so happen to win an apron, feel free to send bacon also…. I LOVE BACON!
Thank you for this giveaway! I ADORE and collect aprons! Anyway, whats on my mind is my upcomming start back to school. I am 33 and will be starting college in the fall to be a Nurse. Currently I am a CNA but as a mom of 4 boys, this is a HUGE step for me, especially since I did not graduate high school, optingto give birth to my son instead then get my GED 3 years later. So…back to school for me. YAY! *feels sick just thinking about it* lol
Looking forward to some warmer weekend weather here in Missouri!
On my mind….love your blog….need another cup of coffee…..love aprons….planned to sew my own but my sewing machine is not happy with me lately (keeps jamming)…..this would be a perfect solution!!!
on my mind right now? I wish I was home with my pug and on a walk. He needs to lose as few lbs…as do I!!
I wish we could go on fun walks but we don’t live near any sidewalks…oh well ! We will make the best out of our walk in and around our apartment complex!!!
Ummmmmmmmm, bacon! And aprons and coffee oh my! Glad its Friday and the sun is shining instead of more rain and/or snow!
Major points for having the word Bacon in your blog title Griff! haha! I always look forward to seeing your new blog posts.
Take care-
-j-rod
p.s.- If I was stranded on an island and all I had to eat was fruit, Id eat bacon every day.
is, due to this blustery snow, wishing i was a SAHM!!!
is thinking that in a little less than 5 weeks I will be holding baby #3 in my arms.
Happy anniversary on your great blog! What’s on my mind? SPRING!!!! I wish I wish I wish it would be spring and the daffodils would be peeping from the earth!! I love the aprons!
well, now I have bacon on my mind, and aprons. Love the vibe I get from reading your blog!
SAHM — took me a minute or two or three, but I guess I am one of those now and loving every minute of it … what am i thinking? i’m just not — it’s friday, why should i have to think. One child asleep and one engrossed(sp) in her morning cartoon and i have a few minutes to just “BE”. Love my family, love my life and would look darn cute in an apron — me thinks!!
)
I’m wishing hubby would hurry up and get home for the weekend!
I may be able to get a shower soon. One child is down for a nap and the other might be giving in as well!!! Woo hoo! Then I have to prep for an eight hour drive.
My friend and former co-worker, Carl is on my mind right now. He is just the nicest man you would ever want to meet. He retired a couple of years ago and he and his wife moved to Georgia and built a beautiful house and started a beautiful retired life. Then tragedy struck. Carl was diagnosed with lung cancer. I don’t imagine the man has ever smoked and has lived a very health concious life. He is going through some really rough cancer treatment right now. He is on my mind. Please allow him to be on your prayer list.
If I win the Dutch Oven PW is giving away today I will need an apron and cooking lessons too!
Can’t wait for spring to arrive .
Wishing I was at home cleaning rather than at work. Is that messed up or what?!?!
Yum bacon!
My kids just wish I could cook the bacon. Started supper last night, had everything mixed up and ready on the counter and the stove is stone cold dead. And I could use the apron to keep the baby snot off my clothes while I wait for the brother-in-law to fix the dadblamed stove.
My hubby travels for work following the pipeline work while I fun the funny farm! The only thing I would trade is having him home more and having more acres. But a new apron to top it all off….sexy! lol. Loving your blog!
First I just want to say your photographs are amazing! What’s on my mind? As I listen to the snowplow fighting the six inches of new snow we got last night I’m thinking that when I wake up Monday morning it will be March and March brings spring, right?! Thanks for the giveaway.
What is going on in my mind at the moment is that I have to get the closets cleaned out so that I can bring some donations to the center and also so that the house can feel and be cleaner.
The weekend is on my mind!
This weekend is on my mind, but in a different kind of way. Kidney stones are looming for my husband. We will be spending the weekend waiting and dreading for when the time comes for him to pass them! Wouldn’t an apron make my weekend better?
Warmer weather and garden planning on my mind! Nice blog.
What’s on my mind…..first & foremost, the thoughts of bacon have now made me hungry….. I need a Mountain Dew pronto to get this party started….I have yet to see one of your photographs that I didnt love….the pics of your babies & your mommy sentiments make me think about wanting a child of my own – wow that’s a big one! I’m hoping it doesnt snow this weekend, my washing machine sure is loud right now, there is dog hair all over the sofa….I could go on & on about the random thoughts in my mind. Love your blog, love your pics! Thanks for the giveaway.
I am thinking how cool it is to get to “meet” so many people through awesome blogs like this! With all the yucky stuff out there on the internet it is so nice to find the good stuff!
Today I am thinking about Olympic Hockey. As a Canadian and an American – I am so hoping that Canada vs. USA will be the match for the Gold.
Go Canada – Go USA!!!!! For me – it’s an Olympic match made in heaven.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Thanks for the giveaway:) I have been thinking alot right now about my husband getting the job he applied for. It would be great for him and great for our family:)
I was thinking about lunch (I’m taking my sister out for her birthday), but now I’m thinking about bacon.
Mmm…yummy crispy bacon cooked in zee pan.
Nommy.
Thanks. ;-P
I just love finding great blogs on PW!!!! And….on my mind right now is the 3 feet of snow we got last night. WHERE’S SPRING?
this morning, i’m thinking about how much i’m looking forward to my friday evening alone. it might sound sad and lonely, but for this sometimes-introverted extrovert, it sounds absolutely wonderful
I’m thinking about getting ready to get two kiddos to the store, but how I’m wasting my time online instead of getting ready…haha! Also thinking about those gorgeous aprons, super pretty!
Love your blog and pics. lol am so out of touch…had to sit awhile and firgure out what SAHM was….”slaps ownself on forehead!!”
Have a Blessed and Wonderful weekend
So I checked out the aprons, and they are really pretty. But I have an old red apron that my grandmother made me. The pocket is ripped, and I need to repair it. I have several aprons, and yet? I must wear the one my grandmother made me. Which is why the pocket is ripped, and I need to repair it. I just can’t give it up. . .
What is on my mind is warmer weather!!!!
I just found your blog through Ree’s blog – very cool! I just love those aprons, I might just wear one more often (and protect all my clothes) if I had one of those. Thanks for the opportunity – great blog – following now!
Wow! Just found you today from Ree. Great blog!
What am I thinking? I really need to hurry up, make my menu, get a grocery list going, get showered and dressed, start washing clothes, and go grocery shopping. But I would much rather just sit here and fiddle on the computer!
Love seeing pictures of your life. Right now I’m wishing I was in a farmhouse far from city life.
hello, saw the article in the Sussex-Surry paper and just had to look you up. I’m from Wakefield, too. Looking forward to keeping up with you.
Tomorrow I turn 50 and I am wishing my mom was alive to call me and tell me happy birthday.
Wondering how much snow is on the ground up your way . . . oh, and love the red heads in your life! I really thought my DD would be one, but she ended up sandy instead.
This is the last weekend of quail season in Texas…one more group of hunters through the lodge and then I can start sleeping again. Early breakfasts and late dinners and long days standing on the concrete floor in the kitchen are over for a little while!!!
Life can return to its semi-normal state again!!
The cotton husband is very lucky to have you…ULove2Cook!!!
Just thinking about another dreary day outside here in Oklahoma. I’m so ready for some sunshine and green grass!
another snowy day, of which we’ve had too many. so i’m feeling like cabin fever and stuff.
The Le Creuset pan I didn’t win at thepioneerwoman.com.
I’ve been spending a lot of time in the kitchen lately. Today I’m making 16 quarts of chicken stock.
US Medical Licensing Exam Step 1. It’s looming…… (Enter the theme from Jaws).
I didn’t win over at PW’s. She is getting so popular that the odds are winning are not good. Don’t get me wrong I am happy for her success but I don’t think I have a chance.
Thinking about weekend plans and what I’m going to cook for dinner on Saturday.
Wondering what I’m gonna do this weekend with my fam not around. I don’t know how to act by myself. Thinking about aprons now too…I never wear one, but probably should. Maybe if I HAD one I would… ha!
I’m thinking about spring. I want to put in a vegetable garden-right now. I wish I could drive with the windows down and drink an iced Starbucks without shivering!
I just linked to you from my site. Now to share the news of your giveaway to the folks on FB.
Happy Blogoversary!
-Lacy
I’m thinking about taxes… and how much I hate doing them… and how much I hope to get a refund. I look forward to looking at your blog more when my kids go to sleep!
How crazy I am -got out of bed, took shower and started getting ready to go to a birthday party and just before putting on makeup, quickly reading paper and found out it was FRIDAY, not Saturday!
Thinking about my 15yo daughter. We’re leaving for a Mother-Daughter weekend today! Yay!
Would love a new apron!
God I hope I get into grad school…
I’m thinking about moving away as my hubby got a transfer out of state ~ wondering how on earth I am supposed to pick a home in an unfamiliar state in only four days of looking?!? Never a lack of excitement around here.
Trying to think of what shape eyes the character I’m working on needs. I just can’t figure it out, it’s driving me round the bend.
I’ve tried so many!
Soccer practice in the freezing rain…really?
I am wondering why I keep humming “To dream the impossible dream…….” Why? I didn’t hear it on the radio. It just popped up in my head. Also, I am loving the Olympics. Might be a connection there.
This wind is ridiculous and I love your redheaded children!
I am scouring online classifieds for rental homes, since our lease is up in a little over a month!
Just finished making plans to spend Saturday w/my Mom, shopping in the big city, lunch at P.F. Changs and having fun! Just us, no husbands, kids, etc.
These noodles are not what I want for lunch.
Just happened across your blog a few days ago. I am a country-loving girl. I love aprons…country lanes…a simple way of life. I grieve over a lost way of life in my area. I am searching for blogs of farm/country living in Southside Virginia. We are thinking of relocating.
Adorable aprons. Tooo cute.
Just wondering what the weather will be next week. They are predicting a snow, possibly blizzard like conditions. Not something we want this time of the year in the South.
I am thinking about spring and what to do with my poor yard. Our “arctic blast” killed so much.
I am wondering if the hawk flying in circles outside my window is about to devour some unknowing creature…
Just found you…. would love a new apron for the springtime, we”ve had over 73inches of snoe here in NJ this winter. I NEED SPRING!!
I love the orange and paisley reversible apron. I really, really need one.
Just sitting here staring out the window at the snow- again. This has been the snowiest month on record in the area. Part of me wants to go out and take pictures of everything. Part of me fears that, if I venture outdoors, I might freeze in my tracks never to return. Too cold and windy – I’m staying in!
Just looking out the window in my office, seeing the sunshine, and plotting ways to escape…
Wondering how much more time I can spend at the computer without feeling guilty for not doing the breakfast dishes.
I am thinking about how tired I am after finally catching up on my ironing and doing 5 loads of laundry so far with more loads to go!
I am thinking I pray my Mom comes home soon. She is in the hospital again for the second time in 3 weeks to have surgery. SHe was in for 8 days the first time she is in for 4 days this time.. Ya’ll pray for Ouida Proctor Please. She is 74 haveing stents put in her neck
Hi, Jennifer! How sweet of you to do this! I saw Lacy’s link on Facebook and was instantly reminded of my Mama. Mama never cooked or cleaned without an apron. What a great idea!
How thankful I am that our federal tax refund finally was deposited!
This is my first time here… clicked over from PW. Love your blog & love those cute little farm kids of yours!
Suiting up for a trip outside to feed the horses. Two Tennessee Walkers, one Quarter, and a good for nothing Mini horse named Nick. Hope I win
Your pictures reminds me of my boy who was born a redhead….is now 38 and bald. Enjoy them for time truly flies, but leaves us with such sweet memories.
Just Thank God It’s Friday
speaking of bacon….my husband is addicted to it!! cooked some bacon bits for a meal last night and well I had cook some more to use with the leafovers today
The sun is shining and it is sooooo refreshing to see. Thank you for the chance to win an apron, I love aprons!
Taking a break from making homemade hand soap for the first time – just cleaned up after my blender exploded soap and suds all over my kitchen. . .ugh.
Just sitting here wondering how come I don’t have a husband that says “Sure! Go ahead and join the gym! As long as it makes you happy, then I’m happy.” Instead he tells me that in a year I’m going to look the same as I do now. Such support! *sigh*
I HATE WINTER! CAN IT PLEASE BE DONE!?!!?!?!?
Prissy wants a salad like I had for lunch. *sigh* Why do I foresee her wasting a perfectly good salad?
I’m wondering if my twin babies are really going to take a nap so I can grab a shower. They seem pretty out, but that can change so quickly!
I just got back to the house from making sales calls and am headed to go and clean the hunting camp! We live on a ranch in South TX…and you NEVER know what you are going to have to do!!! So….I am going to finish that up and try to get home in time to make PW’s mac & cheez for dinner for the hubs! LOVE your blog…great photos…great family!
I am thinking how very tired I am and not looking forward to moving this weekend. A new apron would be the perfect thing to help me break in my new kitchen!
Thinking I’m ready for the weekend!!
I just recently found your blog and I really like it. Your pictures are great.
…need spring…need sun!!! I’m cold.
How’s that for some deep thoughts?
fighting a cold, homeschooling, trying to get better for a night out with hubby!
Looking forward to having a quiet weekend.
Just found your blog and really enjoy it. Have a great weekend.
Cute blog! I was looking at those aprons and fell in love with the cafe one. It would match my kitchen decor!
Hello, My first visit to your blog.
Happy Anniversary!
Looking forward to being a regular visitor.
Hello! Just found you on PW!
Thanks for the fun give away! I can always use a new apron!
Happy Blog Anniversary!
Have a great day!
I am starting two sewing projects this week and I am a little nervous! I’m pretty novice at this point..
MEATBALLS!
you are cool. and so are those aprons.
*smile*
your photography and those aprons both make me giddy!
Gosh, where will this incessant wind be when we need it this summer??? Nowhere to be found, I’m sure. Happy Blog Anniversary!
Its a beautiful partly sunnny (low 50′s) day in Central Arizona. Clouds rolling in… expecting another snow storm tomorrow. Getting my shopping done, then baking bread.
TAXES – unfortunately haven’t finished them yet!
Love the aprons – all so gorgeous. I’m thinking right around this time of winter every year, I am ridiculously desperate for a burst of color in my surroundings. Seeing all the great lovely flowers & colors in the apron fabrics has me wishing for a big bouquet of fresh flowers to brighten things up!
My friend Linda is on my mind today. It is funny how someone you met on the internet can become so incredibly important to you. I was very blessed to get to see her one last time. I only wish I had known it was the last time. RIP, my friend.
Thinking about a quiet weekend full of snuggles with my pups and enjoying some “ME” time.
I found you because you commented on Pioneer Woman’s site, and I love her. So I figured I might love you too! Then I saw this thing about an apron giveaway, and I love aprons. Now I know I love you too!
Thanks!
Amy
Looking forward to a Moms Night Out Tonight! your site and pics are awesome!!
Those aprons are adorable! I could use a 2nd one, I bake a lot of cakes and well, can’t keep an apron clean for more than 10 seconds LOL
Right now I’m wondering if the bestie (a state away) has progressed in her labor anymore or if they’ve decided to do a c-section.
My friend Darnell, who has cancer. I’m hoping he makes it another week for his Military Retirement Ceremony.
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=311957135841&ref=ts
just recently found your website. am enjoying it a great deal.
On my mind today — Angel Noodle Soup at Old Siam Thai Cafe in beautiful downtown Columbus, GA and the Roast Beast Sammich at City Market and Bakery a block away. I’m obsessed with food, pictures of food, and blogging about food today. Sgt. Grumpy is starting to get used to me snatching his plate out from under his nose before he starts eating so I can snap some pictures of it.
Love those aprons. I’m thinking about getting into sewing and whether I should use the extra carrots in the house for a salad or a carrot cake.
I am ready for spring and then summer and a fresh tomato sandwich with lots of mayo. I am even ready to start mowing grass again.
I enjoy visiting not only for your photos and prose, but for finding other cool bloggers in your comments. Thinking about the relatives coming to visit in a week, and the chaos of home improvements marring the house.
I was thinking about some Berry Hill bacon, made w/ Brown sugar and red pepper flakes, thick and delicious. ……
Happy 2nd bloganniversary! A great giveaway!
Cheers from Switzerland,
Rosa
Love reading about your family and your photography! Happy 2 year anniversary from someone who’s just celebrating her 2 month anniversary
My thoughts:
I am REALLY looking forward to spending the whole weekend with my husband! (First weekend together in almost 2 months, because of our opposite work schedules.) To top off our weekend we get to go see my adorable, loveable, and sweet as pie granny on Sunday and go to church with her and my WONDERFUL Mama!!
I am beyond excited!!!!!!!!! Its been too long since I got to spend quality time with the ones I love!!! Oh, and I finally will get to cook a REAL dinner because we’ll all be home together
Love your blog!! Always wait for new posts!
Love those aprons – they’re adorable!! What I’m thinkin’ is how neat it is to have a friend that I’ve never even met, and how certain music makes me think of her, *ahem* You!! (REK was playing on the radio on my drive home today…)
finding so many new and wonderful blogs to explore – great fun
How pretty the sunlight is filtering through my window. We haven’t seen the sun in a while!
Looovvve your pictures!!!
What’s going through my mind right now is the same that’s been going through it for awhile…I’m sooo stressed and I need to be reading. I have my comprehensive exams for my Master’s coming up in 2 weeks and I’ve got soooo much left to do.
Happy Blogoversary!!!
I guess the only thing I have to say to you is “You should know better than to show a whole online shop of aprons to a certified member of the Apronoholics of America!!!” Those things are so cute, {but not as cute as your babies}!
My wonderful Grandma has been on my mind all week. We said good bye to her today and it was a beautiful day. Afterwards we went and ate at the sale barn where she was a waitress and then watched the sale afterwards. It was a perfect day for a perfect lady!
Found you site from The Pioneer Woman’s blog. Good job!
I was just thinking about how I want to lay out my garden this year. Can’t wait for my own fresh veggies!
Just started my first full time job after being basically unemployed for over two years. It’s a good day!
One turn leads into another. I am really inspired to find “People Like Me” with a great deal more talent. I am trying to start my very own farm. It is currently in my backyard and will one day move to Pecan Pathways in Waverly Hall, Georgia. I look forward to visiting your blog and being inspired. As I say good night to our Red Wiggler Worm Farm, 4 hens, 4 baby chicks and two bunnies and our many vegetable garden plants waiting to hit the soil this spring, Good night.
What’s on my mind is how wonderful my neighbor is. He came over and snowblowed my driveway for me today! I love having such great neighbors.
How exciting! An blogiversary. Well, I hope you have a really good one.
A new apron would go swell with the Blendtec blender I am expecting on Tuesday to use to whip up lots of yummy Vegetarian delights.
Have a wonderfully blessed weekend, Robin
Missing my daughter whose away at college.
Happy blog-anniversary! Oh I need an apron so badly!
**Do they make maternity aprons???** Kidding. But baby is on my mind. Just got to hear the heartbeat for baby #3! Even though I’ve done this pregnant/baby thing 2 other times, I still teared up hearing that heart beat. The miracle of life never ceases to amaze me! Love it!
I had skinless chicken breasts in the Crock Pot all day, then roasted thick spears of asparagus, half of a sad looking red bell pepper, and 1lb of fingerling potatoes. Then, while the oven was already hot, I made a batch of pumpkin muffins from a Pumpkin Quick Bread mix; makes a dozen. WOW, does my house smell good.
I love aprons; they are handy to keep my iPhone in the pocket. Bach is great cooking music.
My Grandmothers would not be caught without an apron on while working, both were farm women using their aprons for all sorts of jobs. I miss them. I am now a Grandmother . I have never worn an apron. I should make some aprons and start wearing one. I’m a farm woman also.
empty minded
…but I love, love, love those aprons!! I want two or three or four!
Hi! I found your blog from PW’s blog. Thanks for the giveaway.
What’s on my mind? I’m sick of snow! That’s what!
love your work!!!! I feel that I envy your time management:0)
I love aprons! A friend & I organize a monthly potluck lunch at our elementary school where we serve everyone from the teachers to the lunch ladies & custodians, about 65 people. We bought blue canvas aprons that have a shark on them & are captioned “Let’s Do Lunch!”
I love your pics of everyone waiting to have thqt bacon!
Every farmers wife needs a good apron!
Just found your site. I like it! It paid off for you to comment on PW.
The aprons are adorable! Now I need to go finish baking my dark chocolate chip cookies!
Your photos are just lovely!
Love aprons, makes me feel like Betty Crocker! And protects my shirt from all the gunk I always wipe on it when I’m cooking!:)
What’s on my mind is….one, that those aprons are adorable and two…you went back to work? Full time?
I do looove aprons. These are adorable!
Happy Blog Anniversary!! Toure apron look very nice. My wife would love one!!
Sorry about the mis-spelled word! Was supposed to be Your
Whew, girl, you are a brave soul to allow us post anything on our minds
thankfully, its too early for there to be anything on my mind right now, except my coffee..But, I will say those aprons are just adorable, along with the other acessories that are listed. Have a great weekend!
Montreal…!!
Those aprons are really cute! Congratulations on your bloggy anniversary.
Those aprons are so cute! I love pretty aprons…mine is just a boring black one, but it does say “Got Milk?”
What’s on my mind? Hoping my little guy gets all better in time for his birthday…and also wondering how his birthday snuck up on me so fast!
And I can’t believe how grown up your girls are getting!
Congrats on two years of blogging!!! Looking forward to many more years of it!!
On my mind….I am missing my boys as I hang out in Rochester MN with Tessa. My home. My hubby too.
But I am so thankful to be here by Mayo Clinic and getting help for Tessa’s pain. So very thankful after 6 months for her to finally feel there is hope and help to find a fix for this.
Its sooo good to see her smile with hope filled eyes!!!
i am currently obsessing with whether or not to just jump in and get a blendtec blender.
On my mind: are my Lenten Roses beginning to wake up under all that snow?
On my mind right now is wondering how we in America have gone so mad. Could it be because so many are not involved in the simple life any longer? Also concerned about the earthquake that hit south of the islands of Japan. My daughters good friend (and my third daughter) is there now.
You have a beautiful Blog. Thank you for sharing.
I’m thinking about the last time I cooked bacon…and it popped! and ruined my shirt. I need an apron!
Really enjoy the blog. Do you or anyone else know of a farm or country life blog in Halifax or Charlotte Counties, VA?
Oh, bacon. Bacon-bacon-bacon. Why do I always forget to get some at the market? Is it because I have no self-control when it’s in the house?
On my mind – I’ve just posted a giveaway on my blog that quilters/fabric-oholics might like have a look at.
I’m finding that there are more recipes I want to try, books I want to read, quilts I want to make, and sweaters I want to knit than I will probably be able to do in my lifetime. But I don’t want to abandon any dreams or plans…
Thanks for your generosity with this giveaway – I’m a dyed-in-the-wool (no, I don’t actually DO that, too) apron wearer and the addition of a new GORGEOUS apron from BDoodles would be stellar!
Just found your blog from PW. What beautiful pictures! Thanks so much for sharing with the rest of us.
What’s on my mind….what should I do with the construction paper “soup” my daughters created today? One package of construction paper: $1, two pairs of kids’ scissors: $2, the hours of peace and creativity it brought to another snowy day: priceless!
When Debbie lived in that farm house … my friend Ella and I used to clean it every couple of weeks… Great room for your family. I would love to see the updates and changes… believe me it needed them. Congrats on your show in Wakefield. you’ll post I’m sure
I’m due to have my third child in 6 weeks and 2 days, and his nursery is ALL I can think about.
What’s on my mind? Well, you said BACON, so bacon is on my mind. I just recently found my favorite way to cook bacon. Lay it in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet. Put it in a cold oven. Turn the oven up to 400 degrees. Check on your bacon at about 15 minutes, and then every minute after that. Depending on the thickness of the slices it should take 15 to 19 minutes total. Put the bacon on paper towels to drain, and pour that beautiful bacon gold into a jar or heaven forbid a trash receptacle.
Just recently found out I’m pregnant with baby #2 and it was a surprise, surprise, surprise! I could use a new apron to cover my big belly this Fall.
Enjoying the fact that it was almost 40 degrees today and sunshine. It almost seemed like spring today. But more snow is still a possibility.
One good thing about waking up to a new day is that we all have the opportunity to make a new start on that day and try to right any wrongs we may have done. It means we get a second chance to do it right this time!!!
Right now I’m thinking that I’m hungry with nothing to eat in the house. So I need to go out and get breakfast at IHOP, and I dread going out in the cold to do it! (It is getting into the 60s here today, but we aren’t used to all this cold weather down here in south Florida!)
I’m thinking that my dogs are fed and sleeping, the coffee’s hot and the sun is out. Aside from the fact that our oven had a short circuit last night preventing me from baking my husband’s birthday cake, it’s going to be a beautiful day. Happy Blog-iversary!
The minute I read,”adorable aprons”, I immediately thought of Eleanor Burns. Shes’ a quilt teacher and I learn so much about History from her as how it relates to quilting. Just last night I was watching one of her shows about the “Kansas Crossroads” quilt block. She made an apron at the end because those types of quilts were made out of feedsacks. I sure wish they’d go back to giving us fabric when we buy flour and feed~~~!!!! I bet if we got Ree to write the folks they might think about it!!!! Hey, Cotton Wife, how ’bout you get w/Pioneer Woman and have their people get w/your people…. Thanks. Now on to world peace….
ummmm, bacon.
Is it spring yet? Go Red Sox.
I was reading PW cooking section just now and saw a comment about not making mac and cheese without Duke’s mayo and I thought, “That sounds just like The Cotton Wife,” and sure enough, it was.
You should post that recipe, I bet it’s delicious.
Waving from around the corner in NC. We have 7 kids – soon to be 8 – and live on 20 acres. I wouldn’t say we “farm” but we did grow a lot of cucumbers last year! I’m ready for spring.
So beautiful kids. You are so lucky
Happy Anniversary! I am thinking about what I am going to plant in our vegetable garden this spring. I am married to a farmer in Kansas and we have two little boys. Your boy’s cheeks and red hair are to die for!
I’m thinking that even if I did have an apron on I would still wipe my hands on my pants. It’s just a fact of life when baking.
I simply must have the apron. I’m the messiest cook around and never have a tea towel!! And cooking bacon would splatter my good tshirt!! Thanks for letting me enter!!
Thinks that one of these cute aprons would inspire me to cook/clean more!
food food & more food and cooking cooking and more cooking!
I am thinking about how badly my throat hurts after burning it with my blueberry white hot chocolate from Dunkin’ Donuts this morning. Ouch!
Would you believe I have never owned an apron? I cook breakfast for the girls every morning at the risk of my clothes. I had no idea I was living dangerously. I need protection!
Off to the store…
I am so excited for you this weekend!!!
I LOVE aprons! They remind me of my Great Grandma. I actually have some of the aprons she made and I love looking at them. The pride she took in making them and the beautiful colors make my heart swell!
Woohooo! Love cookin’, love aprons, and thanks for posting to PW, I’m lovin’ this new bloggin’ thing I just discovered! I’m also on the ranch in Three Points, AZ, and ain’t sunrise on the computer fun with a big ol’ cuppa coffee and a cat in your lap?
Happy Anniversary!

I’ve never had an apron! Hmm, you mean I don’t have to have an old kitchen rag slung over my shoulder all the time?
Today I’m grateful for nice warm cocoa.
Love love love aprons and being the messy cooker that I am they are a godsend!!! Yours are gaaawjus girl!!!
I haven’t worn an apron in years, but just love the recent comeback of all the vintage styles, very nostalgic. Thanks
The thought I was having just before opening and reading your blog today was after reading a couple of blogs from younger people who have both left their children with someone responsible and had a get-a-way weekend. Both commented ‘WooHoo-No Kids’, and it caused me to wonder: Do the kids ever look around and say,’WooHoo-No-Parents’? Are kids just as glad to be away from their parents as they are to be away from their kids sometimes? That’s my ramblin thoughts for today.
I’d love to win the apron.
I love bacon & aprons…and I’d love a nice springy apron and some lovely weather to go with it.
Today I made a bacon and avocado sandwich for lunch. Avocado makes a great substitution for mayo, if you’re into that sort of thing. I’ve recently found myself unemployed, so I spend most of my time cooking and clipping coupons to keep my pantry full. I’d love a new apron!
Love , Love aprons. And of course the blog too. you make me laugh. Have a great day.
Bacon is a staple at our house. I buy it in bulk. My 18mo old can eat his weight in bacon. The worst thing is that he’ll eat his up and want some of ours, hate to share my bacon, but can’t turn down that adorable face. LOVE aprons and those from BDoodles are too cute.
Look at you with 200 comments!
I really think that the Weight Watchers people need to come to a greater understanding of bacon. Can you imagine how popular those WW people would be if they just really knew how to love bacon?
Hello! I accidentally found you when I clicked on your name in the comment section of Pioneer Woman! I’m so happy I did! I just love your little blog!
My mom died of cancer in November, 2008. I was her caregiver from June until she died. With her illness and being on morphine, she just did not enjoy food that much anymore. But one of the last things I fixed her that she actually enjoyed was a BLT. It gave me so much joy to hear her say, ‘That was really good.”
Also, she (Theo Burt) had some ‘June Cleaver’ aprons and aprons that had been passed down to her from her mother, aunts, etc. I used to love to wear those aprons. Next time I’m there (we still have the house in Dendron) I need to gather up all those aprons and bring them home so they won’t get lost.
Well Jennifer, I don’t JUST need an apron… I need to learn how to cook, lol. I’ve graduated to boiling water without burning myself. What’s next? LOL …the possibilities are endless! I’m being brave and making my daughter’s birthday cake in a few weeks. Keep your fingers crossed that my artistic abilities are strong enough to mask my cooking deficiency!
