My husband and I had a band in he early ’80′s. We actually had band practice in the upper floor. We had a huge cloth backdrop that we used behind us when we played. It said Blackwater. We left it hanging up on the wall upstairs. I wonder if it is still hanging after all these years.

Okay, so maybe because we’ve been talking about small towns a lot lately, I had a dream last night that you and your girls loaded up into your suburban (do you have a suburban?) and came to my little town and we all went trick or treating. I was dressed as a dead housewife (original, I know) and you were a sailor. I can’t remember what any of the kids were dressed like except for your oldest, she was dressed as an indian. Weird, I know. But it was a fun dream! lol

I feel like I have come full circle now! Last week, my friend Frannie in KY ask me to checkout stliving and I did. A couple of days ago, I was reading the comments on PW’s site and read your comment concerning your interview with the newspaper. I was fascinated, so thought I would checkout your site, only to find out you write for stliving. Duh!

Hooray for small town USA! Although ours isn’t so ‘small’ anymore. Can’t complain about life in the country with Costco, Target, Starbucks, and Famous Daves about 10 minutes away! The best of both worlds.

I’m a well traveled woman…and enjoy a visit to “the big city” every now and then…but I also love my small hometown. I’m from and still live in Mississippi. We have an abundance of small towns! I once forgot my checkbook in the grocery store. The manager told me to just take my groceries on home and bring him a check on my way home the next day…now that’s SMALL TOWN!

Where to go at night in a small town? Ha, ha, that’s a good one – unless, of course, it’s a Wednesday, then the Baptists are at prayer meetin’.

We live in what used to be a town, with a school and *ahem* cotton gin and a general store/post office. Now it’s just the hubby and me and assorted animals, with the church (still active) and cemetery across the road. The town where we work has a population of about 6,000 and is 18 miles down the road.

I grew up in a large metropolitan area, but I LOVE small town/country livin’!!
