A coffee shop.
I don’t have one.
I love coffee.
Things are simple enough in the morning because I drink my coffee black – just straight up and STRONG.
But things are more complicated in the afternoon when I want a cold, delicious coffee drink.
I sure can’t get one on the Back Forty.
I think I have things figured out without leaving the farm…
Mason jar. It’s important to the taste.
Or not.
Ice… we need ice. I wish I had my icemaker back. In some cruel joke, the world gave me an icemaker for about three months and then BOOM, took it away.
I pour in about that much cold, leftover coffee. It may have been really helpful for me to look at the measurements on the jar and tell you how much I poured. I’m sorry.
I don’t know how you feel about Splenda but I’m telling you I love it. I live on it. It’s fake and chemically processed. It’s the Jessica Simpson of sweeteners. But I also would like to be friends with Jessica (I think this is another story for another time – or you could go ask Lacy or Katy) so I love Splenda.
You may use sugar, if you like. Or Equal or the pink packet … or your poison of choice.
No judging here!
Then comes the milk…
Top with one of these nifty plastic lids (side note: they are wonderful for storage purposes) and
shake shake shake
shake shake shake
shake your boooooooty
For coffee from the farm, it’s delicious.
However, if you want a real coffee drink. With FRESH coffee. In a real cup. Served somewhere nicer than in the middle of a field…
Go to Aromas in Newport News, Virginia at the end of the month. I’ll be there and so will my photographs.
Yep – I have another gallery opening! Details will follow soon concerning times and how long the gallery will be up. But it’ll be there. I hope you can be too.
gosh, that looks so yummy!! I might have to give it a try. Congrats on the next gallery opening…may it be the second of many more!
I LOVE making iced coffee from leftovers in the coffee pot, and I do it the same way — generally without the mason jar and always without the Splenda. I will let you have Jessica Simpson all to yourself dollbaby!
Congrats on the show. Wish I were close enough to come see it.
Girl, I may just have to make a trip to where ever it is you live (Virginia?) if not for the SECOND exhibit, then surely for the coffee. They’re both powerful motivators.
No Splenda for this girl, but I’ve certainly made my share of iced coffee. In my younger days, I made it with instant Maxwell House crystals, hot tap water, milk, and sugar.
Sure wish Katy and I could make another VA trip to see your work in Newport News.
Katy, love, more than anything — we love Jessica’s perfume. Not her hair or comments about tuna fish being poultry… just some really wonderful perfume.
Love ice coffee..love love love splenda:)
Where do I get the nifty plastic lids? I could so use these after the girls ( sometimes me) misplace the lids on the pickle jars.
I get them at Walmart, Patti. Sort of around-ish the paper towels and Ziplocs, I think-ish.
Congratulations!!
Mmmmmmm you have me craving an icy cold coffee beverage… and it is almost midnight!
xoxo,
Bonnie
That looks soooooo good. I’m still stashing away your cinnamon rolls recipe so I’ll add this to it!
I am drinking a Hazelnut Java Chiller from Sonic as I read that. YUMMY!!
I have to tell you at Christmas my MIL made a pecan pie with Splenda. Jennifer it was awesome. I thought it was better than the real sugar ones!
No coffee for me but I do love the smell of it, just not the taste. Actually at an away hockey game I did have some frilly version that tasted pretty good. Hey, you are suppose to be 70 there today… so not fair. We are going to be around 20 for a high. I guess we’ll try to get the snowmobile out. Enjoy your beautiful day and can’t wait to hear about the show!
Wow, that’s so great! (the gallery opening, I mean) Congratulations!!!
As for the coffee, I like my coffee only on occasion, with a little sugar and lots of cream. I also really like McDonalds mocha. Very yummy!
But for me, coffee is more of a treat than an addiction. And OJ is my morning ‘waker-upper’ of choice!
Congrats again! Becky G.
I love my coffee but hot and steamy. I have followed you for a long time and am so proud of your pictures and you. your blog makes me feel like you are my friend. wish I were closer and I would be at the gallery to see the pics and too meet you.
O Cotton Wife you are a lady after my own
heart… not only needing the boost in the afternoon and using left-over coffee…but realizing that we just have to make do and make things happen out here in the country…
love it!
You are going to need lots of coffee to keep up with all the fun you have going on!! Congrats!!
Congrats on the gallery! Love the coffee pics – they are making me thirsty.
Also, girlfriend needs a capaccino(sp?)-expresso maker. If ya got a hankerin’ for some stronger flaver, use a shot of expresso in your iced coffee or cinnamon roll icing. Yummy. Love your site!
The electronic cigarette works in a way smarter fashion and utilizes newly introduced atomization technology to bypass the need to burn tobacco.
