Convincing Myself…

That spring WILL arrive – someday – is becoming difficult.

spring2

Yesterday was bright, sunny, warm and glorious.

Today? Not so much.

Don’t tell the Cotton Husband but I have the heat cranked up on high and I still can’t get warm. I will have to blame the electric bill on something, but can I always use the excuse that the babies must have been playing with the knobs on the baseboard heaters?

I have a feeling that we’ll all be happy to see even the  most pesky of weeds this spring.

Just as long as spring gets here and STAYS here!

  1. I am praying Spring comes soon! We are still buried under about 2 feet of snow.

I hear you! We are finally having some nice weather today. But it is so muddy! TNT got stuck in the driveway with the semi on Sunday. He had to call his helpful wife to come help him. :)

  3. Amy says:

Wow! Are your daffodils up that high already?! I haven’t seen much growth here in the Valley yet. I did see my neighbor’s irises are about 2 inches high on my walk yesterday. My flowerbeds are still covered in snow, and it’s snowing again here today:( It’s still a good day, had tea and scones with some good friends:)

  4. Bev says:

Beautiful photos…it’s going to be a while yet before we see that much growth here in the Chicago area.

  5. KT says:

I noticed yesterday that the yard of my newly-purchased home now contains some one-inch-tall tulip sprouts. It’s coming!

After the drought and 30+ days of 100+ weather we had last summer, I’m scared to long for warm weather and spring, but I do! But your pictures show that with the promise of those flowers, surely spring can’t be too far behind…

  7. Love your pictures! It’s cold and rainy here in Georgia today… but having planted the potatoes, onions, and peas — I am reassured that spring is just around the bend.

Are you coming down sick, Jennifer?

  8. The Cotton Wife says:

Hope not, Lacy! I need to go fire up my teakettle though…

Amy, those photos were taken yesterday! I couldn’t believe it myself when I saw how tall they were.

  9. Becky g. says:

ummm, yeah we’ll be glad to see spring, but spring doesn’t stay. It is soon (sooner in some places than others) be replaced with summer. And in GA that means hot, humid, sticky, muggy . . . you get the picture! :o ) Becky

  10. Becky says:

You have flowers?! Mine are not that far along yet. But it will be soon.
I can’t get warm either. Just about the time I start to thaw out, it turns cold again.

  11. Shirley says:

I agree 100%. There’s nothing green in my yard yet. It’s so depressing.

It’s been very cold here today also. The wind is blowing and that seems to make it worse.

  12. OK, no complaining if you actually have green growing outside! We are still absolutely covered in snow and still NO melting!!! we are like the only place in MT that isn’t warming up a bit. Every morning I wake to a hoar frost where everything is WHITE. sigh, I think I’m ready for spring. Enjoy those little daffodils!

You should live in the mountains of West Virginia! We have had an old-fashioned winter for sure. The schools in my county have been closed 19-20 days this winter. We are covered with snow and still… it snows today. The flowers are lovely!

  14. Waiting for spring as well but they are calling for snow and rain for the next week. Beautiful pictures you have there!

  15. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos! I went outside and found a little hyacinth from a winter planting many years ago. Here’s a little something to make you feel better about your electric bill….. Ours has a 50% surcharge! yeap! because we live on an island and there are so few accounts here. You’re welcome. :)

  16. Crocuses. I love crocuses. Or is it croci?

  17. Dana says:

Were you looking out the windows here, you’d be seeing the snow that has been in my yard for a month now, and the ice/dirty snow on the curb where the plows pushed it. You’ll see spring long before I do. :(

  18. Kim Fink says:

Love your pics! Can’t wait to get out in the garden. We start planting around St. Patricks Day here in Kansas.

  19. Llama says:

So pretty. I just repotted a bunch of my houseplants this weekend. It made me feel spring like. I have Hyacinths blooming on my window sill and in my garage. I love having glass in my garage doors. Lets the light in and my plants still flourish in the winter.

  20. Dawn says:

Thank you so much for sharing those beautiful spring pictures. My kiddos were making mud peanuts today and counting the daffodil noses poking out of the flower beds. Spring is coming and we’re so ready after 40+ inches of snow in February! I love your blog…so simple and real…and a daily encouragement. Bless you!
