  • Welcome!

I'm a farm wife, a mama and a photographer living in Virginia.

My camera is typically filled with images of sunrises, dusty fields, even dustier children and whatever we happen to be planting or harvesting at the time.

    Thanks for visiting the farm!

Corn

Another summer quickly leaving.

Yet another summer of being passed over for a Duke’s Mayonnaise commercial. I don’t know why they ignore me so.

Some people dream of conquering the world. I dream of wearing the Duke’s people down little by little until they put me in a commercial.

We started picking corn this weekend and in addition to being very, very thankful that we even have a corn harvest (no thanks to the lack of rain this summer), I was happy to use it as a prop during a senior photo shoot…

I took the children out to watch the corn harvest on Saturday

and even though my little boy was as sick as he’s ever been (what is going on with all the sinus-y mess this summer?) he nearly climbed out of the truck on his own.

He was determined to get into that combine, bless his heart.

I guess he just felt like he had work to do. No man is going to stay cooped up in the house for very long anyway.

My kids LOVE to ride along in the combines and tractors. And then we all love to ride our 4-wheelers through the freshly harvested fields.

Awww, that’s adorable. Nothing better than a dad loving his kid.

Oh my goodness. Those photos. They just make my little heart go pitter pat. And that red hair. I’m done. Thanks for sharing your beautiful family!

Great post! Love the pictures. Funny you should mention Duke’s. I’ll be placing an online order to them this week. I’m all out! Pretty sure I won’t be able to survive without Duke’s in the fridge.

Aw!! CH made me cry!! Seeing him so happy when wiping that lil nose! He is as proud as a peacock of his family and it shows!

I love this. And I love to see a man who will take the time out from work to make a child smile.
Even if he has stark white socks!!! LOLOLOL Yes, I remember that post.

I haven’t ridden in a combine since I was very little. My grandfather used to take me and I loved it! Ah… memories :)

We are *still* harvesting milo, it just doesn’t seem to end….plus the combine keeps needing *adjustments*. We didn’t do any corn this year. What I think I love best about your photos, is that I see my life mirrored almost exactly, but the people are different :) The Farmer holds the baby the same way on his lap in the same combine…. we do the same things you guys do… the kids just fall in line with everything as if it is all they’ve ever known….oh, wait…it is!

One day we really need to meet! I got an idea…FARM TOURS (aka what a farmer needs to justify a road trip)!

That is just too cute, the little boy so sick and still needs to help where he can. You sure found a good Daddy for those kids and I think there Mommy is pretty great too. You are raising kids that you will be proud of in there adult years. Our kids are adults now and we are so proud of how they turned out. You never spend too much time helping them mature into the next stage.

I know you are a good photographer, but there just aren’t enough camera settings to fake or photoshop the genuinely warm loving feeling you see when you look at the pictures of Keith and the kids.

I hope you know how blessed you are to have him. I especially love the picture of the two of them in the cab of the combine watching the corn unload. It reminds me of the last scene of Forrest Gump as they sit and watch tv with their heads cocked the same way.
