I have little farming babies.
When they work, they work. Avery Ruth is in the living room now diligently working on something in her sister’s forgotten textbook from this morning. She’s quiet so I’m just going to assume the best. Sorry teacher.
When they play, they play.
And when they sleep, they sleep. I noticed this when my husband and I began dating… he sleeps every chance he gets. Those chances are few and far between and during some seasons he doesn’t even get much sleep at night. But when he can sit down for five minutes, he’s going to take a nap.
Right now we are in the middle of a rainstorm. Some of my neighbors are reporting 20 inches.
And all my babies are sleeping the days away with two or three naps and still they sleep all night long.

The hum of rain outside and soft sheets…
or a towel – anything will do…

and it’s night-night time for my sweet, warm babies.

The other day (meaning a month or so ago), I opened up a package that said I’d been nominated for Farm Bureau’s Farm Woman of the Year.

I was really very surprised to be nominated and have been carefully working on my application here and there in between runny noses and Nabs feedings.

So far I have quoted Gone With The Wind, called myself a hermit and begun an answer with “Well…”

BEST APPLICATION EVER – not.
I’m sorry to whomever has to wade through my silly piece of paper to get to the articulate applications.

I snapped these photos on a quick trip to Chippokes State Park last week.

I started looking at them back here at home and realized how intensely she’s watching her big sister.

And both of them love every moment of this even though she has no idea what her big sister is doing or why.

It almost makes me jealous that I don’t have a sister… watching these two play together, listening to Maggie read to her and seeing them invent silly games.

I think I’ll call my sister-in-laws today. They’ll do in a pinch.
