I’ve been asked a bunch lately about my editing. It’s so super, super simple. There are really just a few steps. I edit each image using different items in the Adjustment Panel (almost) exclusively. I’m really a huge advocate of coming up with your own “recipe” but hopefully these free Photoshop actions will give you a good starting point. You can change the colors of the gradient, adjust opacity, add more contrast…you should really, really tweak any action that you use and make it your own. I always encourage people who mentor with me to simply jump into the Adjustment Panel and play around to make their own concoction.
About these – Alex is a cooling action meant to be combined with your own editing steps. It just cools off a too-warm image. Carter is a warming action with the same intent… combine it with your own steps. Warm & Soft is something I use on about 90% of my images… you will spy “Carter” written in there too. I love the warm sweetness of this one!
Before you use these, make sure that you have proper exposure…lack of great exposure will throw off any image! Great lighting and getting it right in camera is the absolute most important thing always, always, always.
Here is Warm & Soft for Elements users. (Disclaimer… I am not an Elements gal but this worked for me and a few others in PSE)
I would really love to see your results! Feel free to post them on my Facebook page!
