I kept waiting and waiting for us to get the cottage jusssst right. Then I realized if I were waiting for dust-free floors on a farm this blog post may never happen.
A little backstory: last fall my husband suggested we take this spacious, 2000 sq. foot property on our farm and use it for my photography business. It would be a place to hold workshops, meetings with clients, a guest house for clients who wanted a weekend on the farm and a place for other photographers to teach workshops. Honestly, I am still coming up with more and more possibilities and don’t think my excitement over this house will end any time soon. If I’ve never mentioned that I love my husband… I do. He has some wonderful ideas, don’t you think?
Here it is… dusty floors, pictures still to be hung and all. I can’t wait for y’all to experience life out here!
This is my office- it’s been quite an adjustment having my office away from home but on the plus side, the laundry pile has never been lower!

My studio (with a few chairs in it right now). I love, love, love these south-facing windows.

Another view of the studio… I love having this bed in here for families to cuddle on or for children to jump.

The entrance to the house. Every single room is so full of light.

I just had a meeting with a bride so I have some canvases and albums out… but this is the main eating/hanging out/whatever area. In the next picture you can see how it leads into the kitchen making one big room.

Told ya! There is a full kitchen with stainless appliances (also a washer and dryer in the laundry room if you happen to need those). And of course a Pepsi machine (pssst… totally NOT filled with Pepsi bottles!)

This chair is like buttah. BUTTAH. I’d call dibs for every workshop but that wouldn’t be very fair.

I love this fridge. Once they told me it made 10lbs of ice, I was a goner. When you live 7 miles from civilization, ten pounds of ice is a BIG deal.

The view from the kitchen window…

The same view from the back deck… that’s Keith’s shop back there and there is a pond back there as well.

Here is bedroom one… there will be three twin beds in here and also room for an air mattress or two.

Bedroom two… two twin beds (and room for air mattresses) and also a small crib.

The smaller bathroom…

Bedroom three… one full bed. I love my Nana’s quilt on this bed. I cannot wait to shoot in this room… so much yummy light!

I have little vintage-y details all around…

Here is the master bathroom… off to my left is an area with double sinks. I could basically live in this bathroom.

A place to recharge…

This is the view from bedrooms 1&3…

And here is what you see from the front door and from bedroom 2… my own home is just to the left (out of frame) across the field.

It’s so peaceful out here and I am so full of hope that my friends find it as relaxing and inspiring as I do. My heart is so full of love for this place and I cannot wait to share it with you! I have just two workshops dates open for 2013 and they are booking quickly! You may also set up a private mentoring date if you wish…
